Description
Meditations on a Small Lake
. From the publisher: "Meditations on a Small Lake recounts the author's enounters with Door County residents like 'the for sale farmer' and 'the old fisherman,' focusing also on elements of the Door landscape: country roads, small lakes, abandoned farms, and abstractions like winter and country darkness. But
Meditations on a Small Lake
is, as the subtitle suggests, a requiem for a landscape that was diminishing when the book first appeared and has diminished further since 1987."
Norbert Blei (1935 - 2013) is one of Door County's best-known authors of of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and journalism. Blei was born in Chicago and moved to Door County in 1969; he is the winner of a Pushcart Prize for fiction. (His writing retreat, The Coop, now sits on the Write On, Door County campus.) Blei's work gives readers insight into a different era of life on the peninsula and space to reflect on what has changed and what remains the same.
