The image was hand-carved on a block of Japanese Shina plywood and printed by hand. Each print is signed, titled, and editioned by the artist. Norbert Blei was a writer, poet, painter, and teacher who made his home in Door County, Wisconsin. Blei became known as "the bard of Door County" and worked in a converted chicken coop which served as his writing studio until his death in 2013. The often cited and photographed Blei Coop was gifted to Write On, Door County by Blei’s family and moved to the Write On property in 2014.
